A simple maintenance item that's often over looked. The PCV (or Positive Crankcase Ventilation) allows excess pressure to flow back into the intake of an engine. Symptoms of a weak PCV is increased oil usage.

Here is a video of us changing the spark plugs and valve cover gaskets on a 2013 Subaru Outback. The issue it was having was using oil. Especially at sustained highway rpm. It was using over 1 quart of oil per 1000 miles at highway speeds. The Spark Plugs, Spark Plug Grommets, and Valve Cover Gaskets are replaced in this video.

This is an exciting one! I successfully regeared a 2013 Subaru Outback. From the factory it had 3.9 Final Drive. This shows how I installed a 4.11 Final Drive. This helps with off road crawl ratio. This helps with installing larger tires. This helps 0-60 Acceleration. This also theoretically helps with city driving mpg. Using this info one could also repair a factory 2013-2014 Outback with a 20...

Safety tip taught by my mechanic father. When you take off the wheel put it under the subframe of the car in case the jack fails. Especially if you've got it jacked up on the dirt and on a piece of wood. I've seen first hand cars tip off jacks and it isn't pretty 😢

I rarely ever post any comments on UA-cam, but this calls for it. I just changed both bulbs and it took me about an hour from start to finish. Let me just say, WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK! I have been working on cars all my life but never had the misfortune of doing headlights on a Subaru Legacy 2011. The high beams are a 5 min job and the low beams are so freaking hard to get to. The packaging sucked. There is a special place in the afterlife for the genius that designed this! On the plus side, I managed to do it in an hour and saved a few hundred bucks. Good luck to anyone who is about to do it. You don't need any tools. Just a flat head screwdriver and boatload of patience. Thanks for the video. It was very helpful.

I had to replace both hub assemblies on my 2016 Subaru Crosstrek. I was on a time crunch and wanted to buy one of these. I couldn't wait so I made my own with metal I had left over from other projects. I changed the design a bit though. I made the backing plate to fit the entire hub. Each stud had a hole . I welded the two foot piece of square tubing over one stud hole. Then made a gusset at a 45 degree angle. I welded to the tubing then welded the gusset between the two lower studs. This allowed me to put four nuts on the lower four studs. After mounting the tool I put my floor jack under the lower control arm and applied some pressure to the suspension. This eliminates any bounce. It took four wacks with my sledge hammer and it came out. This hub had never been replaced in over 80,000 miles. The other side had been replaced a year and a half earlier and only took two wacks with the sledge. I live on a dirt road between two low water bridges, so my car crosses water several times a day. They were rusted pretty bad and I did a brake job while everything was apart. One other piece of advice for someone doing this job for the first time, remove the wheel sensor before removing your hubs. Allot of the videos I have watched people leave them in. It's one small bolt holding that sensor in place. This way you have no chance of damaging your sensor.

I'm getting ready to do this to my 2015 Outback. I've seen on a video, that the bleeder valve needs to be open, during the compression of the calipers. I notice you didn't. I suppose you really don't have to do that? Especially, in my opinion, opening the bleeder valve like that, could cause air to get into the system. I think they said that they do that, because of the ABS system? I've never personally ever did it that way, but it's been a very long time since I've done this... LOL!

9:19 I used some blue shop towels and some cotton swabs to get most of the oil out of the spark plug holes before I removed the spark plug. I looked in the spark plug holes with a scope. Amazon has some thick swabs on a bamboo stick I ordered just for the other side because it was such a pain. But ... there was no oil on the spark plug threads after I removed them. And that means I didn't unintentionally over lube the threads on the new plugs going in, so I didn't unintentionally over tighten them.

Also torque all bolts and restake the nut for the axle after torque torque your lug nuts as well.
